ABOUT KINGS BUCKLES

Welcome to the website dedicated to the fashion of the King of Rock N Roll. This website is dedicated to my dad who passed away in June 1992 at the age of 46. My dad was born in 1945 in a little village in Malta and is the original King of Rock n Roll fan. At a young age of 16 back in the 1950s he migrated to Australia with many Europeans at the time. It is here, he met my mother and I was born and introduced to one of the most iconic musical talents of the 20th Century. During my primary school years, I grew up in a milk bar and my dad would play the Kings music in the background setting a mood in the shop of being fun and friendly. Being a child at the time approximately 9 years of age, I appreciated that my dad was a fan, as he would buy cassettes and records of his musical idol, my dad like most men of that vintage had the Kings hairstyle and even dressed like him, with flamboyant and colourful shirts. I remember when he purchased the Kings Special Pink Pressing album and would play it over and over in the shop. I also remember my dad was a member of the British fan club, he would so look forward to receiving his booklet each month with an update of what the British fan club was doing. I remember in early 1977 my dad had told my mother he wanted to go book a tour, with the British fan club and go see the King in Concert, my mother agreed on one condition, that he took me with him, I remember this conversation vividly. Sadly, as we all know, the King of Rock N Roll died in August 1977, my dad was devastated, so much show, he actually closed the shop for the 2 days straight, leaving customers puzzled and high and dry. As I grew into an adult and become a musician myself, thanks to my dad I also became a fan of the King of Rock n Roll, the story, the image, the icon but I am more so interested in the man himself and his iconic 1970s jumpsuits. The website pays tribute to the flare and artistry of his world famous 70s jumpsuits and more particular unique belts and buckles that were made for each jumpsuit. It wasn't uncommon for each jumpsuit to have 2 different belts and buckles for the same jumpsuit. For those of you with a keen eye, sometimes he also mixed and matched belts and jumpsuits completely, I guess it depends who was doing wardrobe for him at any particular concert. I am the first in the world, to produce buckles, small enough to wear with jeans and a t-shirt without looking out of place or to ostentatious. I want to make sure they are made right, meaning that the highest attention to detail is given to the artwork to reflect the actual full size jumpsuit buckle and also to do it right for the King. No cheap, almost looking buckles. Do it right, or do not do it. As you can appreciate, the buckles cannot be 100% accurate or 100% proportionally correct, due to their smaller size. But I can assure you, if you manage to work out the difference, it would make no difference. My aim is to produce as many different buckles as possible, for now I have started with the ones that speak to me the most. After 100s of hours or research and 1000's of photos I have produced the following buckles. If you have read this far, I can only personally say to you, thank you and if you have purchased or are going to purchase these buckles, I hope they bring you as much joy and happiness as it brings me to bring them from artwork to an actual physical buckle. Knowing your happy, makes me happy, so again I can only say Thank you.
